Jammu & Kashmir Police Discourages Social Media Reels in Uniform
In a bid to maintain professionalism and security, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have issued an advisory urging officers to refrain from creating and sharing social media reels while in uniform. The move comes amidst a growing trend of police personnel posting such videos, which often gain widespread attention on platforms across the Valley.
A senior J&K Police official confirmed that a verbal advisory has been communicated to officers on the ground. “It has been noticed that some personnel are posting reels in uniform, which undermines the decorum and professionalism expected of the police force. We have advised them to discontinue this practice,” the official stated.
Security Concerns Highlighted
Another official emphasized the potential security risks posed by such activities, noting that some videos inadvertently disclose sensitive information, such as officers’ locations, which violates established protocols. “This generational shift in behavior is influencing younger officers, but we are confident that these advisories will address the issue effectively,” the officer added.
Despite the concerns, many young officers have gained significant popularity, with their videos amassing thousands of views and likes. However, senior officials believe this trend could compromise the integrity and security of the force.
