MLA Hazratbal Salman Sagar Criticizes Budget, Calls for Pro-People Policies
By Sujjad Rehman
Srinagar, Feb 1, 2025 – Reacting to the newly announced budget, MLA Hazratbal Salman Sagar has voiced his concerns over what he calls an “unbalanced and inadequate” fiscal plan. The senior leader expressed disappointment, stating that the budget lacks significant provisions for addressing unemployment, rising inflation, and public welfare.
Speaking to reporters, Sagar argued that the budget favors large corporations and infrastructural expansion while neglecting the hardships faced by the common people. “This budget fails to provide any real relief for the working class, small traders, and unemployed youth. Instead of focusing on economic empowerment at the grassroots level, the government seems to be prioritizing big-ticket projects that won’t immediately benefit the masses,” he remarked.
Sagar also highlighted the insufficient allocations for key sectors like education, healthcare, and rural development. He stressed that Hazratbal and other constituencies need greater investments in public services, employment opportunities, and local businesses. “People expected a budget that would ease their financial burdens, but instead, they are left with more uncertainty,” he added.
The MLA urged the government to reconsider its approach and introduce targeted policies that directly benefit the common man. He called for increased subsidies for essential commodities, better support for small businesses, and greater investment in youth employment programs.
Political observers note that Sagar’s reaction reflects a broader dissatisfaction among opposition leaders, who believe the budget does not adequately address ground realities. With growing debate over its long-term impact, the government may face mounting pressure to revise or clarify certain budgetary provisions.
