By Sujjad Rehman.
Srinagar, Jan 28: A fire incident in Srinagar’s Jawahar Nagar on Tuesday left a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) injured and caused damage to multiple government residential properties, officials said.
According to Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), DSP Hilal Ahmad of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sustained injuries after his government-allotted residence caught fire. The blaze also caused minor damage to the adjacent government quarter of journalist Saleem Pandith.
Emergency response teams, including Fire and Emergency Services, quickly reached the scene and worked alongside local residents to extinguish the flames. The injured DSP was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.
Officials have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, though preliminary investigations point to a possible electrical short circuit. Authorities have launched a detailed inquiry to uncover the root cause of the incident.
The swift response from the fire department and local community helped prevent further damage to the densely populated residential area. The incident has raised concerns about fire safety measures in government housing facilities across the region.
Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
