ROCKY MOUNT – A tragic car accident claimed the life of one person Saturday night in Rocky Mount.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers from the Rocky Mount Police Department responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Mayo Street. When they arrived, they found a devastating scene.
Police say the driver of a 2001 Honda Accord, a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, pending notification of his family.
The second vehicle involved, a 2021 Nissan Rogue, carried occupants who miraculously escaped without injuries, according to officials.
The Rocky Mount Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation, working to piece together what led to this fatal crash. Details remain limited as the inquiry continues.
